Lesson 12 of 14
In Progress

Wide QRS Complex

ECG Findings:

  • Dog: >0.06 sec

Cat: >0.04 sec

Assuming rhythm is sinus in origin (and not ventricular)

Wide QRS complexes in a dog – slide to highlight ECG abnormalities

Etiologies:

  1. Aberrant conduction (e.g. bundle branch block) – see below
  2. Myocardial hypoxemia/ischemia
  3. Left ventricular enlargement

Consequences: As per the underlying etiology

Treatment: No specific treatment. Address the underlying etiology
